Swaziland Just a short note to let you know of and see a picture of the new National Record for a Black Bass in Swaziland . It all started with the 'old' record caught at Maguga Dam in the northern reaches of Swaziland , that was held by Ed Boxshall Smith - a fish of 4,350kgs caught in 2003. When the Zone 6 International Artificial Lure Angling Tournament between Malawi , Namibia , South Africa and Swaziland started on 7 August 2007 expectations were high and excitment evident on the faces of all the anglers. The first practice day revealed some nesting sites of the Large Mouth Black Bass and the Swaziland Presidents team proceeded to work the area. Wimpie Bouwer hooked and landed the new record fish early that first morning, it weighed in at 5, 125kg's and set the new Swaziland Record - well done Wimpie! The second LARGE fish was caught by David Lourens also of the Swaziland Presidents Team and it weighed in at 4,990kg's. The South African Junior Artifical Lure Angling team showed us that they know how to catch Bass and weighed more than four fish over the 4kg mark with several others weighing fish in the 3 kg range, all improving their individual PB's on several occasions. We would like to thank all our sponsors who made this event possible with specific mention of our major sponsors being First National Bank, AD Enterprises, Maguga Lodge and the Swaziland Artifical Lure Angling Club for their support. We will be hosting an International Bass Tournament later next year and another Zone 6 Art-lure International in September or October next year. Should you wish to contact Maguga Lodge and 'TEST' the waters please contact Debbie or Nyasha on info@magugalodge.co.za or debbieh@magugalodge.com
